The children have continued to retell and recall stories in their writing lesson. Learning and recognising the beginning, problem, resolution and ending of stories will equip young learners to build their own narrative.
Yesterday, the children in Beech Class used Julia Donaldson’s ‘Room on the Broom’ as the basis for story building. We did boys v girls and then worked in small groups before performing to the class.
The children have been sequencing their favourite story using a comic strip format. This allows the children to think of the most important stages of the book, the cohesion throughout the plot and understanding that pictures can also speak words.
