Year 5 completed their Greek Topic in music with a short performance to parents last week. They sang and told the story of The Trojan Horse. This week to round up the topic, they composed music depicting the characteristics of Greek Gods while the rest of the class guessed who they were. They used the pentatonic scale, leitmotif (a little tune to depict a character), ostinato patterns and dynamics to represent the Gods.
Oak created this class animation of the Greek myth of Perseus and Medusa. They created a storyboard of the story, made their own settings and characters, animated, summarised the story in words and narrated their animations. Here it is!
What a fabulous day we all had!
This afternoon Oak Class discovered that there is so much more to space than we realised. Check out this amazing video that will make you rethink everything you know about our solar system.
We have been creative this afternoon and represented our solar system in a variety of ways. Take a look and see if you learn anything new.
Raps, songs and informative talks
Year 5 composed music in 3 time today. This is not easy as we naturally play and sing more often in 4 time. Each group had someone playing the beat, a drone and another person composing an ostinato pattern using the pentatonic scale. Some groups managed to put in some dynamics as well as stay in time, to make it more interesting. Have a look at some of the group videos below.
