Year 6 children have been learning about the musical elements and used these to enhance their train compositions. They especially thought about tempo, dynamics and texture as well as choosing appropriate timbres to represent the train on its journey.
We carried out a practical investigation in Year 5 (Oak photos). We had to work out the total perimeter and surface area of wrapping paper needed to wrap up items without any overlapping paper.
We discussed ideas with our groups and created our nets in Oak Class
Some of us checked our nets to see if they were accurate or needed to be amended.
Then we measured objects and noted all dimensions.
Using this information we discussed how to calculate total perimeter and total surface area and then wrote our calculations in our books.
We then peer marked (Oak) work in groups to check if calculations and diagrams were accurate and easy to understand.
