In a 1950’s classroom some things were very different to today and some things were very similar!
Today the children practised handwriting, spelling and tables. They learnt a poem to recite out loud, had their hair checked by the nit nurse (Mrs Brown), drank milk and played 1950s playground games. Mrs Banfield even made a few children stand in the corner and face the wall when they did something wrong as well as making some children write out their poems again if they made a mistake! Despite this, most of Chestnuts said they had enjoyed their day.
